Media Buzz! Dave Masin: Luxe Magazine, New Day Northwest & 2012 Furniture Trends

Dave Masin, fourth generation in this family-owned furniture business and Vice President of Masins, was recently featured in Luxe Magazine’s Pacific Northwest Design profile pages. In this special section, Luxe editors interviewed Dave, asking questions about Masins products and services, design staff, and what sets the company apart in the luxury furniture marketplace.  Pick up a copy of the Winter 2011 issue, on newsstands now!  We’re also delighted to announce that this week marks another exciting media development for Masins. This Thursday, January 12, Dave Masin will appear in the first of a series of TV segments on King-5′s New Day Northwest at 11:00 am.  Every month, Dave will be a guest presenter during these special spots devoted to interiors, furnishings, and lifestyle design.  Don’s miss Dave’s first appearance on the show, where he’ll be discussing 2012 furniture trends. Want a taste of what’s in store for the first segment?

Finish versatility is another great highlight of current trends for fine furnishings and design.  Gone are the days of one or two finish choices for casegoods and upholstered pieces.  Today manufacturers now offer seemingly limitless options for finish color, sheen, and application.  From glamorous, high-gloss lacquer to rustic, hand-applied techniques, virtually any look can be achieved.  Shown here is a detail shot of local craftsman J&J Kettman’s farmhouse table.

Finally, sustainable business, natural and re-puposed materials, and eco-chic designs remain mainstays in the luxury furnishings marketplace. Consumers are drawn to these pieces for their natural beauty and environmentally-conscious approach to design. TerraSur Furniture’s offerings, including this rustic, elegant cocktail table handcrafted by artisans in Argentina, represent a beautiful blend of sustainability, craftsmanship & design.

Pioneer Square Store Moving + Relocation Sale

Masins recently announced plans to vacate our Pioneer Square store.  We’d like like to take this opportunity to explain the details of our move and relocation sale. We have hired an independent sales group to help us liquidate inventory in the Seattle and Bellevue stores. This sale will start on Tuesday, November 29th. It is a “private sale” – first limited to our customer database, then open to the general public starting December 2nd. We expect the sale to run for approximately 6-8 weeks and we will hold the sale in both store locations. Everything will be up to 70% off retail prices to clear space for new merchandise for our new concept Bellevue store. The decision to relocate our flagship store has been difficult and one that our family has taken very seriously. Pioneer Square has been home for over 60 years and we will miss the area immensely.  On the bright side however, consolidating in one store provides Masins the ability to better service customers from one central Bellevue location -  a beautiful store with convenient access and ample, free parking. Most staff will be consolidated into our new Bellevue store, with some relocating to our warehouse location. Masins is confident that this move will enable us to further our reputation as a top retailer and premier interior design firm on the West Coast. The new Bellevue store will have dynamic room settings, with vibrant colors, finishes and a more diverse product offering, most which will be exclusive to Masins. Our designers will have more flexibility to work outside of the store, allowing them more time to devote to client projects, providing the best design service possible in the region.  Thank you for your continued support and patronage.  Don’t miss this opportunity to take advantage of incredible savings on our inventory of fine furnishings and accessories. And watch for news about the launch of our newly merchandised Bellevue store soon!

Penthouse Preview: Masins & Bellevue Towers

Masins was delighted to be selected as the furnishings partner for the luxurious Bellevue Towers condominiums – a stunning new residential complex in downtown Bellevue, Washington. One of the Towers’ sumptuous penthouses, designed and furnished by Masins, will be unveiled as a model unit at an exclusive preview event on Thursday, November 3. With a comprehensive layout analysis to maximize the unit’s spacious floor-plan, a team of Masins’ interior designers selected unique pieces, luxurious fabrics, and unusual accents for the penthouse model.  The furnishings and accessories complement the home’s interior appointments, with specific placement to highlight the extraordinary views.  Dramatic statement pieces are offset by tailored, streamlined upholstery and classic accents, creating unified, elegant, sophisticated interiors.  For example, a stunning wall of large-scale modern art-inspired wallpaper by Elitis, a renowned French luxury supplier, is a feature of the unit’s main living space.  Designer Barbara Barry’s iconic “Diamond” chest by Baker Furniture in gold leaf echoes the wallpaper’s geometric motif.  In the dining room, a majestic, round, brass-inlaid walnut table is offset by Laura Kirar’s playful “Caviar” chandelier - a hanging cluster of clear glass globes illuminated from within by metal pierced rods.  The master bedroom is an elegant urban retreat, featuring a subtle handpainted tone-on-tone wall treatment, and Annie Selke’s chic “Happy Hotel” upholstered platform bed.  The expansive terrace is furnished with with an array of sleek seating furniture by Dedon, a luxury German manufacturer, made from the firm’s patented woven weatherproof fibers.  Featured below are a few teaser pictures of product featured in the penthouse.  The preview event will take place on Thursday, November 3, 4:00 – 8:00 pm.  For more information or to RSVP, please contact Bellevue Towers at (425) 454-9922 or info@bellevuetowers.com .

Fabulous Fall Style at Masins

Fall is upon us!  When autumn hits the great Northwest, residents head indoors and cozy up with comfortable furnishings and seasonally-inspired accents.  Looking to add a bit of Fall fashion to your abode?  Start with a few autumn-appropriate basics.  For example, the warm oak glow of Stickley’s Mission Oak collection remains a popular perennial favorite. Hancock & Moore’s luxurious leather upholstered pieces are also an excellent Fall find. Woven materials (wicker, rattan, and textural fabrics) impart a natural, harvest-feel. And check out chic, casual classics from Baker’s Milling Road collection.  Next add autumnal accessories to complete the look: a large glass jar filled with gourds or pinecones, a plush cashmere throw, scented candles, and a spray of twigs arranged in a woven seagrass bowl. Voila! Seasonal style that’s cozy and comfortably chic.

Tribute to a Nation: Colonial & Traditional American Style for the Fourth of July

What defines American style?  For many, traditional furnishings epitomize a classic, elegant look that celebrates the nation’s past.  From simple Colonial-inspired primitives to the sculptural beauty of Philadelphia Chippendale and the stately profiles of New York classicism, a wide variety of design styles capture the spirit of America’s storied past.  Richly figured mahogany, handsome accents, and classic silhouettes – all speak of enduring American quality, craftsmanship and style.  In honor of Independence Day, we’re paying homage to our great nation with a selection of pieces that will inspire you to celebrate great American design.  For further inspiration, be sure to check out a few of our favorite American traditional collections: Stickley’s Colonial Williamsburg, Baker’s Historic Charleston, Hickory Chair’s James River, and Henkel Harris’ Virginia Galleries.

The Everard House Settee from Stickley's Colonial Williamsburg collection.

The Fairfax Corner Cabinet from Henkel-Harris is based on a colonial Virginia form.

The Arm Chair from Baker's Historic Charleston collection is a beautiful variation on Philadelpia Chippendale.

This Federal Side Table from Hickory Chair's James River collection is a handsome interpretation of classic New England style.
