Mike Danial This Tuesday!! In our Bellevue location

November 6th, 2008

On Tuesday, November 11, Stickley Corporate Historian Mike Danial, will present the popular “Stickley Roadshow” - a fascinating look at the 105-year history of this remarkable American furniture company. Danial will reveal Stickley’s unique construction features, identifying marks and brands, and design history, and will examine Stickley’s many contributions to the American arts & crafts movement.

The arts & crafts movement in America began in the late 19th century and was a stylistic reaction against the ornate carving and excesses of Victorian decoration. Clean, simple lines, quality materials, and honest, hand-crafted construction were the new standard for design. The style remained popular into the 1920’s, then waned as America burst into the modern age. Stickley is widely regarded as the leading manufacturer of fine quality arts & crafts furnishings.

Here in the Northwest, Stickley and the arts &crafts style are veritable design icons, due in part to the many historic bungalows in the region, and the large number of newly constructed craftsman-style homes.

Admission to the Stickley Roadshow event is free, however seating is limited. Please call (425) 450-9999 for reservations.

New things despite low attendance at High point Market

October 24th, 2008

We just got back from High Point, North Carolina last night and found some beautiful new things.  While not well attended, the market offering from many manufacturers was very nice.  Many new accessories, some new small scaled upholstery pieces and new resources.
